This sounds like a nasty question but I would like to know just how many of you actually feel like you hate your siblings?

My sister is a nightmare - she is the most selfish person I know, doesn't do anything to help my parents or even do anything nice for someone just out of thoughtfulness. We argue constantly! She is selfish, unfriendly, arrogant, spiteful and always puts her friends before her family. I have tried many methods - being her friend, buying her things, talking and trying to joke with her - NOTHING works! It hurts my parents that we fight constantly but I cannot help but speak up to her!I am 22, she is 17 and still at school and I wonder if she will ever change?

  1. She's way younger than you she is STILL a teenager . Money doesn't buy happiness and if you live with her and your parents why not move out you are 22 my dear. ! After all she's still the baby of the family.

  2. It is possible to feel like you hate any one of your family. These people are your flesh and blood and unfortunatly you are stuck with them.I feel the same about the whole of my family its just good news that we dont live close together. At some stage of your live though you will need her for something so sometimes its better to try and put a brave face on it.Try not to see too much of her if possible and also if there are any family get togethers do like I do and avoid them like the plague. Live is sooooo much better like that.Good luck.

  3. I suppose it must be, because my sister refuses to contact me, her reason being 'she doesn't feel like it'.

But if I miss anything concerning her kids' birthdays, I'm very bad news. The fact that I might have other stuff on is completely unimportant to her.

    I'm 40, she's 38.

  4. Yep i hate one of my brothers so much.   Sadly it's the one i live with, so i get angry and upset with him each second.

  5. Hmm.. i always say hate is a big word. I know my two cousins use to fight always but it has changed now. It is possible it will change when she get older.

  6. Ya

  7. Yes it is!! Most definitely!

  8. It is possible, yes. But hate is a strong word and sometimes you think you do but realise you still love them deep down. Personally, I could never hate my siblings. We have our arguments but I love them all.

  9. i have a younger sibling and sometimes i fell like i absolutely hate her or cant stand her but if she were to dye i know that i would miss her because i do love her but sometimes i do dis like her!

  10. Yes, it is possible. many times i have felt like i hate my sister because we fight all the time and she does or says things that drive me nuts. i know how you feel. you probably just feel like you hate her. im sure you really dont. i mean, she is your sister and you have lived with her your whole life, im sure. i could be wrong, you may really hate her if you feel very strongly about it. sometimes people just get so mad that they feel like they hate them because it lets their anger out.

    hope this helps

  11. Yes it is, i saw my sister 2 days ago. Had not seen her for 20 years i don't hate her but i just don't care about her as a sister anymore. She is just another person to me.

  12. poor you

  13. Yes... but you guys might wannahh think about how you would react if one or the other died.

  14. it is deffinataly possible ,

    no matter what .

if you have never been that close with her ,

you could deffiatally hate her .

but there always is unconditional love .

you might want to think about putting her through somthing ,

like if she shops to much get youre parents to not give her money ,

or cancel her bank card (etc) .

    just small things ,

    it might be rude ,

but it could be an awakening for her ?

    hope this helps .

  15. she will change after her teen years! give her time!   she has alot to learn in life! yet!

  16. You can choose your friends but you can't choose your relatives unfortunately.  Everyone is different.  Some people are naturally nice and others are naturally irritating and selfish.  You are lumbered with a selfish little sister who is probably just as irritated with you as you are with her.  I think you should stop judging her and trying to change her into something she isn't capable of being.   It's not your job to make her act nicely to your parents and become a thoughtful person.  Instead, you should concentrate on yourself and your own life.  If she's behaving badly, let her.  Don't have any comments on the subject.  If she's being rotten to your parents it isn't your job to stick up for them - they are perfectly capable of sticking up for themselves.  Concentrate on your college studies and do what's best for YOU. Just don't get into arguments with her.  Just say 'whatever' and let her rant and do her own thing.  Hopefully, by your better example she'll grow out of this horrible stage and become easier to live with.  Sadly, you will have to gather together all your willpower to keep your mouth shut because she sounds like she wants lots of attention.  Keep your attention on yourself.  The house will be quieter which will please your parents and she'll probably sulk because she isn't getting a rise out of you. Good luck

  17. You need to tell your parents exactly what she is like, in detail. With a bit of luck she will spend a lot of time in her room nursing a sore bottom and you can get peace and quiet.

  18. I don't hate my siblings but yes we fight and hate each other for a short ammount of time

  19. My brothers and i fight CONSTANTLY, but we don't hate each other. I think that you dislike your sister tremendously, but you don't hate her. If something bad happened to her, wouldn't you be crushed? And really think about it.
