Because between my period on June 16 and August 10, I have had EWCM TWICE! and I also charted my BBT but no temperature rise. Is it possible to have EWCM and not ovulate? And why or why not?

  1. Yes, it's possible.  I can't remember what it's called, but the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler talks about it.  There's basically two reasons----your body delays ovulation, usually due to stress, and the other reason (which I can't remember the name of) where the egg develops but can't break free from the ovary.

Keep checking your BBT's, and keep having s*x whenever you notice the egg-white, because it's possible one of those times you'll finally release your egg.

    Good luck-- baby dust!

  2. Yes, it is possible to have all the signs of possible ovulation but not ovulate. You can even have a positive opk result and then have your body not release the egg.

Sometimes, the body tries to ovulate but just doesn't succeed. My body had trouble in June. I received positive opk's for 5-6 days with ewcm. I eventually ovulated at cd 18 (which is 4 days later than usual). I think that stress affected my cycle that month. Hormones can just whack out sometimes causing a late or anovulatory cycle.

Keeping track of your bbt's is a huge help when you are really looking to verify ovulation and possible pregnancy. I would recommend that you keep doing it.
