Is it possible to have Verizon DSL service without a voice plan?

right now i have a verizon landline and dsl service. is it possible to cancel the voice part and only have internet to save money? we all have cell phones anyway and we don't really need a landline phone. i would rather ask here then call up verizon and go through h**l with their stupid automated voice lady.

  1. You will need to call Verizon for this, but yes, it is possible.  dont let them tell you it isnt.


  2. it is possible depending on where you live.. "naked" or "dry" DSL as it is called is not available in all areas..

    It is also more expensive then DSL bundled with voice service.. you may end up with a better monthly price, or the same price if you just drop your voice service to the bare minimum, basic dial tone package. You would be charged for every call made. The benefits to keeping just the basic phone service is you do not need to give out your cell number to everyone, (incoming calls are still free, you just have to pay for each outgoing call)

    in the event of a power outage you have the landline to fall back on.

    If you do decide to go the DRY DSL route, I would suggest that you call them to inquire if the service is available in your area before you let them know that you have DSL and phone service and want to discontinue the voice side of your line, because they will most likely give you a hard time, if you try to discontinue phone service but keep the DSL ..
