Is it possible to have a blackberry 8310 and and not have internet?

i have a family plan with at&t and we all have phones. but i got a new phone from my uncle...its a blackberry 8310, but he told me not to put my sim card into the phone untill i call the company n cancell all internet connections to my family's plan or else i will get charged too much .....can i call them to solve this problem? or do i need to go to the store for them to do it?.

Yes, you can have a BB and not have a data plan (through AT&T), in other words, just use it as a cell phone.  If it were me, I would double check with my service provider to make sure they do not add the additional fee to my monthly bill.

no, you can just call and say that you do not want the internet but since it is a blackberry...they mite MAKE you purchase an  internet package bcuz it will become pricey if you dont have one. but usually you can go without internet BUT, trust me bcuz i have myne, you will miss out...ALOT! lol but have fun with it---its an AWESOME FONE!
