I asked a physiotherapist to relieve some mild tension in my neck when lying down on my stomach. I thought he was going to give me a massage, but he told me I needed to turn around on my back and he went up behind my head he greased up his fingers and began digging them into the holes to the sides of my neck, flicking around ligaments, as if he was searching for something, then I felt him squeezing something for a couple of seconds on my left side, it really hurt, he said he’ll just apply pressure here until the tension goes away. Later he said my right side didn’t have much tension. When I shortened the muscle in that area he squeezed by bringing my head down and shoulder up, it hurt that day, which I thought was normal, but for the following week or so I had bruising going down my chest from the clavicle region and heat going up from the clavicle region to my neck, this is all mostly on the left side. I called and asked him what he did and he said it’s “acupressure”.

  1. The nerves move down from your brain in a very thick cord like manner that branches out, similar to the way your circulatory system moves away from your heart.  So you do have nerves there.  It is possible that you did suffer some damage from this massage or whatever it was.
