  1. Yes -on an A Frame, Gambrel, or French roof. The lower part on the last two will run that steep. My A Frame runs 28/12. I teased my neighbors about painting a "Meremac Caverns" billboard on their side when I replaced the roofing.

  2. No, but it is possible to have a roof pitch of 12/48. Pitch is expressed in terms of rise over run.

  3. Yes your pitch is usely expressed as rise ie 6' over run ie 12' for 6/12 pitch  so you see 4/1 would be pretty steep.you sure you don't mean 1'/4'?

  4. It's not really my expertise but it seems fine, they have 6-8 pitches.

  5. It is possible to have a 48/12 pitch. The steep pitch of a Gambrel or Mansard roof is commonly 36/12 or 48/12. But not common for anything else.

  6. LOL... that would be tough to do! for every foot of run you would rise 4 feet!
