  1. yes you can I was a long distance runner in highschool

and sucked at the 400m but i was top 3 in the mile and 800

    it's very possible

trust me your top 100m dash participant couldn't touch you in a long distance match

it's quite funny to watch them run long distance

    lol awww mem-mor-iessss

  2. there are generally two types of mid-distance/800m runners. there are 400/800 runners who are more sprinters who run a fast 400 and can hang on to run a fast 800. there are also the 800/1500 (1600) runners who are more stamina oriented and are fast at longer distances and use that training to run fast in the 800.

so yes, it is possible to run a slower 400 but a faster 800 if you are that type of runner.

  3. I think it is very possible.

Its doesnt necessarily have to be speed for the 800m but most definately stamina.

    :]

    good luck with your running!

  4. definitely. that's WHY you are a good 800meter runner. some people can run short fast blasts with fast twitch muscles, some have more slow twitch muscles and can endure more

  5. yess

they are 2 totally different races

  6. sure. I run a slower 400 time (62s) but can run a decent 800 (2:22) and mile time (5:29). The 400 is harder for distance runners b/c it is more speed and less of the endurance you need for a mile or 3k.

  7. YES!!!  It doesn't matter if the races are only 100meters different or a mile different.  You are going to have a distance that you are better suited to run in than another. If you are able to run a 400 meter at a resonable time (not too slow, but not too fast) then try to keep that same pace for the next 400.   It will be hard, but the last 200 meters just give it your all.  You might not have the best 400 time, but if you keep that same lap time for 2 laps, then you will run a good 800!  hope that helped.  =)

  8. The 800 is a sprint for all of you who think for some reason its a distance race...the 800 racers who win never slow down you might save a little bit but its still a sprint but yea say you may have a average 400 time if you are able to keep up your pace and dont die out then your 800 could end up being a good time

  9. 400m and 800m are totally different...when it comes to 800m it starts to depend of stamina. You may not be the fastest runner so you dont have a good 400m time like sprinters, but you have stamina so you can for sure have a good 800m time cause you dont slow down trhough the race.
