  1. no

  2. You cannot become a US citizenship until you have formally renounced all citizenship with any and all other nations, per the link, below. If you did not know that, then you are not a US citizen in either spirit or deed. If you didn't understand that, then you need to tell your sponsor and then go through the entire process, again, because any relationship you might have with any other nation as anything other than a tourist or business visit could get you into serious trouble in either the US or the other nation.

  3. Complex answer with lots of "what if's", but yes, it is possible.

The US Naturalization process does NOT make you renouce your citizenship of other countries - it has you pledge your "allegiance" to the United States.

Here is the US Government's take on it: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw...

And here is Ukraine's take on it:

Russia does allow multiple citizenships, but your citizenship in the USSR will determine if you have Russian citizenship or not.

So long answer is... you retained your Ukrainian citizenship when you became a US citizen, unless you (or your parents if you became a citizen while under 18) specifically renounced your Ukrainian citizenship at a Ukrainian embassy.

You may have lost your Russian citizenship at the dissolution of the Soviet Union if your citizenship was actually of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic of Ukraine (part of the USSR). You would remain a citizen of Russia and Ukraine if your parents were Russian (giving you Russian citizenship) and they were living in Ukraine (giving you Ukrainian citizenship).

Ukraine does not recognize dual citizenship, and they say they "may" revoke it if they prove your intention was to give it up, but unless you specifically revoke your citizenship, they will consider you a citizen because they do not recognize the US naturalization process as part of giving up citizenship there.

This is how people are allowed to maintain a US and foreign passport at the same time (Ukraine does not allow this, but the US does - but many Ukrainians have both anyway).
