  1. Unfortunately, Ireland is not very wheelchair friendly. It's a bit difficult to make a castle wheelchair accessible without damaging it and destroying the historical value. But if you don't mind not seeing castles, you can enjoy the scenery and maybe a few other things. My mother uses a walker and cane and we get to see quite a few things. If she doesn't feel like walking that much, I can go ahead and see what I want while she waits somewhere for me.

  2. Wheelchair access you must be joking, you'd be lucky to be able to walk on the broken down kerbs and footpaths, They don't care about the disabled in ireland they are too busy supporting African despots ,

  3. I was waiting to hear some answers. I feel bad for you not getting any. I'm going to the town of Antrim in July. and wondered about this because of a friend of mine's Sister. We would like to take her on some wee trips with us.

  4. Things are much better now than they used to be. Public transport is improving in this regard, and much more restaurants and accommodation are making their premises accessible. Here's a link that might help:

All new buildings (post 1990 approx!), which includes most visitor centres and heritage centres, will be wheelchair accessible.

here's another organisation that has compiled some info:

generally, my experience is that older buildings mostly still aren't modified - castles being a prime example. But accommodation and services are quite accessible, with a bit of planning, so I think it is more than possible to have a wheelchair accessible holiday here. Hope it works out for you. I would be surprised if there aren't specialty travel operators providing tailored packages to people with special requirements.
