ive been wearing glasses since the 8th grade, and am getting tired of them. Could I switch to contact lenses, and if I did, would they be covered by insurance, or would i have to pay for them like i did my glasses, and are contacts the same price as glasses, more, less?

  1. Yes most people can wear contact lenses, check with your eye doctor on that one to know for sure.  Insurance coverage really depends on your insurance company.  I have Spectera (specterrible) and they are partially covered with it.  Check with your insurance company to know if they are.

I paid about $40.00 for a six month supply of contacts lenses (toric).  I only need correction in my left eye.  My right eye has normal vision.  I bought cheap eyeglasses at Zenni Optical for around $45.00 and that included anti-reflective coating and photochromatic lenses.  The cost really depends on where you buy eyeglasses and contacts from.  I look for the best price possible.

    I hope this helps :)

  2. Yes, you can switch! If you had to pay for your glasses I am fairly certain that you would also have to pay for the lenses. The contacts run about 25.00 a box, and you will prob change them every month. There are 6 lenses in each box. So really in the long run the lenses come out about even to a new set of frames.  I like contacts much better, I switched about 5 years ago and wouldnt go back!
