  1. People have certainly done it, but think about it, how could you do both well? Both med school/residency and being the mother of an infant require incredible committment.

  2. It's possible and has been done by many people before you.  However, they usually have family nearby to help take care of the kids or the other spouse stays at home to take care of the kids.  Your freetime is very scarce in medical school and residency.  In residency, you can only take so much time off for personal matters before they extend your training to make up for lost time, which many people having kids have to do.  If you are single and have no support, I would advise against having kids since medical school and residency are hard and stressful enough without throwing kids into the mix.
