Is it possible to have one phone with two extensions?

Here is my situation. I run two different home based businesses. I have one office and one phone (with Vonage). I would like to be able to use the one number for both businesses. But I would like a virtual receptionist to direct the call. Example: Push 1 for......... or push 2 for............. Is this possible to do with just one phone line? The reason I would like this, is because then I know how to answer the phone, and I know which business they are calling for. If this is possible, then do I need a special phone for this?

I hope I'm explaining myself well enough.

Thanks

  1. The only way I know to do this is with a small phone system.  What you might consider doing is looking into "distinctive ringing".  This is when a phone line is assigned two numbers.  Calling one number would cause the phones to ring in one pattern and calling the other number would cause the phone to ring in a different pattern.
