It was a stupid thing to do. Before yesterday I'd taken 2mg at a time on two seperate occasions. I just wanted it to make me feel good, to get away. It didn't do much for me, all the paranoid thoughts and insecurities were still there, lost some memory too. So I took 4mg at the one time (8 0.5mg pills) and at the beginning I felt the same as I did on the 2mg, a bit detached. I got onto a train and fell asleep and woke up again between two stations that are two minutes apart. I don't remember the rest. I went to some other station, sent my mum a text message that I don't remember sending, and picked me up from some station. I don't remember what the h**l happened, going home, anything. I went to sleep as soon as I got home and woke up in the middle of the night and flushed that c**p down the toilet. My mum said I was like a disorientated drunk person. My concern is, is it possible to have permanently damaged myself (nervous system?) in some way by taking 4mg of Xanax at the one time?

  1. 4mg is a high dose but not brain damaging. It's equivalent to 40mg of Valium. Xanax is 10 times as potent as Valium. My advice is: Don't do it again unless you have a bed nearby and don't play with the dosages on very potent substances such as this. You could end up dead and that would be horrible. :)

  2. I'm not a doctor ............but I' ve had the belief that one should not allow him or herself to go to sleep.....without first reaching some form of nomal state of mind.  Keep moving, just remember when you knock yourself out...........you are really just one step from death...............we all go through this in surgery rooms...............so please be careful........I just had a wisdom tooth pulled......and I had to be knocked out for 30 minutes while they split the tooth and worked it out from around the jaw bone.  Only way to go..............in that situation, but I went through 8 days of hardly any sleep and strange feelings. And beside the dentist, I had 4 other special people in the room , checking my heart and vital signs...........so don't take it lightly...........pro's can get you back sometimes.......what you going to do to yourself.......once your out. That's why I believe stay awake till you are what I call "sober" minded................all the best.......and yes I do think you normal thinking will return...............it just takes a little time. Have a nice day.......and try to enjoy life without drugs.......

  3. I doubt it but you're lucky you woke up at all. If you are not used to taking xanax you could have died seriously. I have heard of it happening. I have a prescription for xanax and i take .5mg, I take 3 a day. And I don't think I could function if I took anymore than that. You need to be careful!

  4. you cant get high on xanax, thats why they made it to replace valium,it will put you to sleep....and if you take to much its lights out forever....dont mess with doseage...its dangerous............

  5. Unlikely, but no one really knows.  That is a lot of Xanax.  My daughter did the same dumb thing last month with the same dose and has had the same problems with memory for the past month.  She also had the same reaction from her mother, who said she was unaware of being slapped - hard.

4 mg is Xanax is the maximum dose recommended for a full day for someone having the most extreme anxiety possible.  Taking that much for fun can't be good.  (Taking 2 mg for fun isn't so safe, either).

There's no point worrying about whether you've damaged yourself.  What's done is done.  Just avoid the drug(s), and see if your memory doesn't come back.  I'm guessing it will.
