I found quite a few websites that I have never been to under my temporary internet files. I'm wondering if it's possible they are there even though I never clicked on them.

  1. Nope_System only keep the temp of those site which you've browsed. Some times pop up ad windows, But not a site.

There are huge difference between cookies and Temporary Internet files.

Temporary Internet files : Temporary Internet Files is a directory on Microsoft Windows computer systems. The directory is used by Internet Explorer to cache pages on websites visited by the user. This allows such websites to load more quickly the next time they are visited.

Cookies : cookies, or more commonly referred to as Web cookies (HTTP), tracking cookies or just cookies, are parcels of text sent by a server to a web client (usually a browser or messenger*) and then sent back unchanged by the client each time it accesses that server.

    e.g : Yahoo Messenger

  2. Yes ,but they're probably just cookies.
