Question:

Is it possible to have this covered by warranty?

I own a '07 Honda pilot. The check engine light came on and the car was shaking. I called the dealer and they came and towed it to the dealership. I assumed something was faulty on their end. To my surprise supposedly a mouse chewed the wires on my car. Is there some way I can get this covered by warranty? Can I fight it any way? I was thinking of saying that they can't prove that this damage was done after I owned the car, maybe it happened while being shipped to Boston....I have had it a little over a year. Help!!!

  1. I will fix it for you for free.

  2. NO! Not mfg or dealer's fault. Not your fault either. 'Check' engine after a year? No case if you can't prove it happened before you got the car.  Look at harness damage, fresh and shiny or old and corroded.  I'm assuming you got your defective parts back if you paid for the repair. They're your parts. Is it a warranty issue if you hit a tree in a snowstorm?

  3. Trying to get something like this covered under warranty would be committing fraud. Warranty will cover only those things of which are a defect from factory, not wear to applying brakes too hard or riding the clutch, not running over a huge pot hole and causing damage to the suspension, and not rodent damage..call critter control. It only takes those little varmints a few seconds to create a ton of havoc.

  4. Sorry no, you have sue the mouse,,it is true mice do this often . something they like about chewing on the wires..

  5. Wow, your really pathetic.  You've owned the car for over a year, the drivability problems just started to occur and you want to blame it on the manufacturer!!!

    Outrageous!

Your mouse, your problem.  Pay for the d**n repair like normal people.

  6. get the attorney general involved!!!

  7. Sorry you are SOL.  Rodent damage is not covered by warranty, period!

My wife's Accord had a rat living in the engine compartment & chewed the wires, same thing, took it to the dealer only to be presented with a $250 bill.
