  1. Yes it is. CPVC is rated at 180 degrees, Although I would never run that high of a temperature in a house. Even through copper. It would be a waste of energy.

    That is why diswashers have booter heaters in them.

  2. Most Plumbing Codes restrict the water temperature to WAY less 180°, closer to 118° to 120°.

    If you suspect pipe damage from the water temperature, if you can hold onto an exposed hot water pipe for more than a second, it is most likely not hot enough to be damaging the pipes.

    If CPVC is not supported correctly, it may "sag" when the water gets to its hottest point, and then return to "normal" when it cools back down. Even the smallest amount of this motion can fatigue a joint or fitting and cause it to leak after a time, if it wasn't glued correctly.

  3. Yes.  Your hot water should be running through CPVC pipes, not PVC pipes.  Subtle difference in acronyms, big difference in performance.
