DID YOU HEAR THAT?

The lunacy, the flippin’ frikken madness…

the Mumbo, says Lindsay, Jumbo!

I put my ear up to the receiver, (opposite

the sender)

and try again to hear

the coherence

inside the hiss…

And that ring! Is it part

of the white noise?

Then the throbbing begins,

begins again

and I sob…I want so much to start,

and stop.

I cannot go back to then, before

when

touched by a voice.

I know what I know.

I know what I heard.

I just know it.

  1. "touched by a voice..." a very apt expression. When all the other senses are covered by distance, the voice cannot lie, words cannot hide the emotions.

  2. If you hear something you've never heard before, you weren't listening the first time.

  3. You had me at "the throbbing begins" :)

  4. Yes. I can hear your voice, the sound of your words, and the rhythm of your mind drummer. All in harmony. Lunacy ( of poetry) is contagious if met the (proper) reader, you know. Well put.

  5. The incredible sound of silence.  Can you hear it?  Let me know what it sounds like.  I hear it when I dream sometimes.  It wakes me up, then it is gone.

  6. personally, no

  7. is the telephone playing up?
