I want to get a job at a daycar or preschool. I'm 13 years old and i want a little money. It's something i enjoy doing and i would really like to meet some new kids. Has anybody else done this around my age?

  1. i'm 17 now but starting at 12 i would help out my cousin who had a lisenced daycare out of her home. However, in may when i was looking for a 'real' job I called a few daycares in town and they said that the state law requires that you be at least 18 before you can work in a regular daycare. it may change by state though. this year i am a senior so my school allows us to go to this place called the career center and there are different classes we can take that specialize in a certain career path. i'm in an 'early childhood education' class and they have a regular preschool set up & we work with the kids and will do projects with them and things and the teacher there said that you don't have to be 18 to work in a 'real' daycare as long as you are CPR certified but i dont know if that means at 16, or any age or what.

if i was you i would try to get a job just babysitting instead of at a preschool or daycare. i think its probably unlikely that you will be able to find something in a real daycare.

  2. Most centers do not hire under the age of 18, because of state regulations.  You might be able to volunteer, but it will be unpaid.  You could probably baby-sit for people that you know and you can make some money and work with children.

  3. in our perschool we have a 16 yers old girl helping but she is volenteering. good luck

  4. I wouldn't think it should be a problem, though your probably in school yourself when their in school, so I don't know how it would work out for you unless it was an after-school event. But in all reality, you may want to get some baby setting jobs, they pay more. Because trying too get a job at 13 can be challenging considering the laws of most States.
