Is it possible to hire a car using someone elses credit card eg. parents?

i'm travelling to spain and was thinking of hiring a car but i do not have a credit card, my parents have offered to make the booking on their card, but looking at various websites it seems the person whos named on the card must be the lead driver. Is there anyway round this? (apart from me applying for a credit card, don't think i'd get one anyway in the current economic climate!!!)
