Question:

Is it possible to hook up an unpowered mixer to a powered mixer on a PA?

im going to be buying an 8 channel mixer(unpowered) and a PA system soon...

Just wondering if a can hook the two mixers together...

I dont have the stuff yet, so i cant mess around trying to figure it now.

So im asking if I can and how.

  1. The mixer might have a jack on the back where you can plug it into the powered mixer.

    The powered mixer needs to have a line input.

    You can do this another way if you can switch the output of the unpowered mixer to mic level then you can put it into one of the mic inputs on the powered mixer. Either way it will work.


  2. Usually you can.  There should be a line in on the powered mixer to connect the line out from the unpowered mixer to.  The input control then becomes a sub-master for the unpowered mixer and adjusts the overall level for it.
