Is it possible to hook up my extra PC, amplified sound system to my new Vizio tv?

It's a 47" tv (nice) but I don't really have the room to add a 5.1 surround sound system. However, I do have a 20 watt satellite (sub and 2 tweeters) system that I'm not using. Are the correct cables available? I only have one wire for hook up and its a male jack - same size as an iPod headphone jack, while the tv has a red/white RCA females for external speakers.

Assuming the red and white RCA jacks on your TV are outputs and not inputs, you can buy a mini to RCA adapter at Radio Shack that will do the job (approx $10).  Many TVs have only inputs so you might double check your connectors to be sure you've got outputs also.

If it turns out that you haven't got any outputs on your TV, use the outputs on your cable box instead.

No cable box?  You can use a VCR as a tuner and get outputs from it.
