i have a thing that i can hook up to the speakers that has the right outputs for the amp so i dont have to get a new head unit but it has a ground wire. can i just ground that to the chassie. also what do i do about the REM? can i just put a switch in somewhere or what

(the car is a lexus so i just dont want to risk effing up the dash by taking the radio out)

  1. nope you should really connect the rca cables fron the amplifier to the subwoofers and fron the amp to the back of the stereo otherwise you might not get any sound at all

  2. yes you can, but to have a better sound quality is better using rca's from behind the stereo, unless its a factory stereo without rca output.

audio shops and i think radio shack sell "line-output converters". these connect to any speakers' positive and negative terminals and converts them to rca outputs. then you just connect the rca's to it and to the amp.

this is a cheap one as an example:

and for the remote wire so the amp can turn on, you can add a switch to it. i install them to the "acc" or the "ign/ignition" fuse in the fuse box. the reason for this is so the fuse will automatically have no power then the car is off. this is good because if you forget to turn off the switch.... the cars battery wont die.

plus, you can turn off the amps when you get close to your house so ppl wont want to steal your equipment.

and remember to add a small fuse to the wire the switch will be running on to prevent fires incase something goes wrong.

  3. I thought this was a wierd s*x question at first, I am really disappointed
