I've heard that Macbooks are very reliable as far as being error-free and not having random screwups that many PCs have. Though, since I'm a college student, I pretty much need Microsoft Works in order to get by in my classes with programs such as Microsoft Excel.

I know you can install Apple software like iTunes on PCs, but can you install Microsoft software like Microsoft Works on Mac products?

Also, if you don't recommend Macbooks or Apple products, what are good reliable PC makers/companies? I'm not going with Compaq. I've had nightmares with their products.

  1. Microsoft Works was disconntinued in like 1980, Microsoft office replaced it. Microsoft sells Microsoft Office for the Mac.

P.S. Macs are not PCs, PCs are pretty much "non-Macs"

  2. Well, you can get Word / Excel / PowerPoint / Entourage for Mac, and possibly more in the pipeline for Office 2009, but you need a special version - installing a Mac version of iTunes wouldn't work on a PC and it wouldn't work the other way round!

However, there are free versions available - like trial versions. Also, student discounts are available on all apple products to college students, so have a look into that.

You could illegally download a hacked copy of Office for Mac, but if we're being strictly legal, the student discount is a great help. :)

  3. they have microsoft office for mac
