Hey! I have a 1988 Chevy Cavalier. It came equipped with a radio only! I like in Ft. Smith, Arkansas and I only listen to two radio stations and I really want to listen to whatever I want to hear when I want to hear it. My friend gave me a car CD player that he wasn't using anymore and I went to Wal-Mart and bought a general motors kit and...like..some wires or something for the installation process. I was going to do it myself, but I don't really know what the h**l I'm doing.

The radio is located within the face of the dash, that is to say that it's right up there where the odometer, fuel gauge, and all of the other meters are.

Is it possible to install a CD player in this car?

If so, is it easy enough for someone with no experience with cars to install it oneself?

I'm trying to save some mega money here, but if I must fork over the dough, I think having the ability to listen to whatever I want may be worth it, but only as a last resort.

Thanks in advance for any and all input.

follow these instructions, there very detailed and car specific. as for the wireing just match up all the colors, solder and tape up. the wire harness also probally came with antenna adapter.

pretty easy to install a stereo with these kits. thats how i learned, by trying it myself.

  2. yep, had one and did it.

  3. Yes you can, here's a link to crutchfield.

If you spend aleast $129 dollars on a radio they will give you everything you need to install it,like dash kit, wiring harness etc.

If you don't you will have pay for the accessories.
