Is it possible to learn ballet?

at age 18? They offer basic ballet courses at my college that we can take as PE credit, but I'd like to start training now. I know it is really, really late. I'm not really looking to be a professional or anything, but just take it up as a hobby.

Do you think I could get good enough to do pointe?

  1. You know what they say; practice makes perfect!  At my studio, they offer young adult classes and those classes get to perform in the recital.  Ballet is a lot of fun and I'm sure with a lot of practice you'd get to do pointe as well (I don't know if it's just how my studio operates, but I've been taking dance for seven years and I'm STILL not in pointe. It's a lot of work).  Go for it!  I don't think 18 is too old to start.

  2. It takes a lot of hard work to get in pointe and a lot of hard work to dance in pointe I had to dance ballet 5 days a week for 3 years to get in to pointe and so you have to dance ballet for at LEAST 2 years to get on pointe or it's just not safe and age does not have anything to do with how fast you get your shoes it takes time and effort and it it madders how good you are but mostly how strong your feet and legs are if you get in pointe there is a lot of blood so don't be shocked and it hurts so don't rush it take you time and build up your feet and endurance to pain   but it's never to late to try=^..^=

  3. no its not too late its never too late! you could most likely get on pointe it depends on how strong ur ankles are and become

  4. if you are motivated and work hard you can get en pointe fast. my dance teacher started pointe when she was in her teens and she had no experience but she got en pointe in 6 months. its different for everyone so have hope :) 18 is not too late at all

  5. Sure you can Martha Graham didn't start dancing until she was 27.  You can do anything you put your mind to.

    Enjoy yourself!

  6. it depends on how strong you are. since youre older and stronger than a child it wouldnt take very long depends on how good your past dance training is

  7. After 3-5 years of solid trainging, you can go enpointe.

    Anything is possible!! =)
