Is it possible to learn piano without a piano at home?

Question

Will the piano teacher ask you to go to her/his home to play?

Or will you have to get at least a cheap electric keyboard so that the teacher can teach you at your house?

I cant afford a piano.

You will need something to learn on. I know a teen who taught herself to play. Some teachers will come to your house and some require that you go to their house.

you might want to google Piano Wizard. it's a softwear program that comes with a musical keyboard that plugs into your computer, and teaches you how to read music.

Just got one myself, so I can't vouch for how effective it is, but it looks like a good program.

the piano teachers in singapore usually do come at home to teach, and for the beginning, until grade 1, a keyboard is alright to use. if you wish to go higher than grade 1, which happens after 1 year of playing if u start from scratch, then it is wise to buy a piano.

Yes, most people start out on keyboards. If you're going to take it all the way there will come a point when you'll need access to a real piano but certainly not in the beginning.

You will at least need a keyboard to practice on.  Even if you go to the teacher's house you will need to practice in between.  You will want a keyboard with full size keys, not a little "toy" one.

yes it is possible.

It all depends on the teacher, some prefer to go to yours while others have students over.

You just have to find a tutor that has students over.

As for practicing between lessons which is pretty much essential I'm not sure about a keyboard as I don't know if the keys are the same and all that. If you have a friend that has a piano it is probably a good idea to ask them if you can go over every now and then to practice.
