Is it possible to learn the piano without a teacher?

And to learn to read sheet music?

I've decided, i'm 15, and i would love to learn how to play the piano but as i'm 15 i wasn't sure whether it would be harder to learn now that i'm a teenager rather than a child playing since they were 6

I was wondering what approach i should take, learn scales? Maybe a "piano for beginners book"?

What do you suggest music lovers and piano playing masters? (:

It will certainly be harder without a teacher; however, if you are enthusiastic and talented, you might manage. If I were you, I would take some private lessons for one year at least. The teacher could teach you basic things and then you could continue on your own.  I believe, most teachers would offer you to come if you had a problem later on.

im not exactly a piano player, but sometimes in my spare time i like to learn something.

no, u dont need a teacher to learn piano. u need ambition and lots of practice. its not very easy to learn, but its kinda fun once u get used to it. youtube offers a lot of videos on how to learn to play piano or certain songs. books r great as well!

i encourage you to learn to play songs that only require the right hand 1st and then once u get used to it, u cud start learning music that uses both the right and left hand.

you wouldnt have liked it at 6. really cause you wouldve done it cause your parents wouldve made you rather than cause you liked it.

but yes it is possible. you could find tabs for guitar and find out which notes they are and play them on the piano. that helps. that or like you said a beginners book.

You can def learn piano with out a teacher.. i think you should get an adult beginners book though...it'll be faster than a kids book.
