long story short:

my cousin has his laptop plugged into my modem. i use a router and my internet is d**n fast but ever since he came, he has been killing my bandwith like CRAZZY. he downloads torrents on bitcomet day after day, hour after hour, day and night and i cannot do ANYTHING on MY computer because the internet is so slow.

what i wanna know is, even though he is connected to my modem, and well, my modem is mine, is it possible to limit the bandwith he is using? my computer is the main one the modem is connected to

  1. i have the same story.i would want to limit my brothers bandwith

    as well.

  2. If your dsl modem is a new  2wire modem then yes, if not I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST to get one (50$ about).

If not get a old pc and put a linux live cd in it to filter users or get a linksys wrt router.

  3. You can limit and restrict bandwidth with an Internet router that supports QoS (Quality of Service). Many Linksys and other major brands have this option.
