I'm extremely interested in travel and adventure, and would love to sail around the world exploring islands and oceans. Is it possible to actually do this? What kind of ship would I need and where would I get it from? Would I be able to find a crew actually willing to do this? Please answer with detail and useful information, thanks!

  1. Sorry, no, the world is just too small these days for you to be a successful pirate on the open seas. You'd get pwned by somebody's navy in about a week.

The only way to make it as a pirate anymore is with some small coastal operation, like these goofballs in northeast Africa. You're not going to be seeing much more than the Somali coast from your little rubber motorboat.

  2. Not like the character in the movie.  It's a movie, after all.  It's fiction.

You could get a sailboat and sail from port to port, but you would still need some way to generate income, if only for port fees, maintenance to the boat, etc.

  3. The navy sounds ideal for you. If you become a sailor on a ship. You will travel the world by stopping at numerous ports. I suggest

contacting a navy recruiter to find out additional information on the matter.
