Is it possible to login to yahoo mobile messenger using a yahoo alias? It seems to default to the yahooID..?

I can't get this to work, I haven't used yahoo chat as my "original" yahooID in years, but rather as an alias, when I log into mobile messenger or forward messages to my phone, the only active profile is this original one, which no one recognizes.
