Is it possible to major at japanese/korean/chinese language in university or college?

ike, im still 17 in high school so im just looking into it.

and i dont know alot about how post secondary education system works,

is it possible to learn only and only the language of japanese or korean or chinese at a college or university instead of learning about geology, biology, or stuff like that?

plus what kind of jobs can i get with a degree in being-fluent-in-that-language?

Typically no.  College is like high school where you have to mandatory classes, like math and science.  There are programs in foreign studies that would allow you to major in it, but the core curriculum is always there.  The other alternative would be to get private tutoring either one on one or through a service like Berlitz Language School which is at www.berlitz.com and is a private institution strictly for language and culture training.

    The types of jobs vary of course.  You can teach English in a foreign country (which doesn't even require you speak a foreign language), be an interpreter, work in a governmental capacity, serve in the military, or even just be a consultant for American firms.
