Is it possible to make a living writing for magazines?

i'd like to know two things because everybody has a different opinion and i'm somewhat confused.

can you make a living writing for magazines - i've heard so many people say you can but i don't see how that's possible; the editors are looking for different people with different styles all the time.

can you write for foreign english magazines (like american or canadian) if you're not the native speaker (or the citizen) but you're good - or will you simply be ignored.

Of course it is possible to make a living off writing.

Thats what journalists and writers do. They make a living by writing.

It is also possible to make a living off of writing for a magazine. If people didn't, then there would be very few people writing for magazines and other publications.

As for writing for foreign magazines, I'm not 100% sure. I would assume few people from another country would write for a magazine in America for a few reasons.

-It depends on what you would be writing about.

-If you had to write in another language.

-And if you have prior knowledge of the culture and traditions of that country.
