  1. It can be done.  Not sure what you are making, but just pitch lots of yeast, make sure the yeast is healthy, and oxygenate the h**l out of whatever you're making (ie shake it before pitching yeast to get lots of oxygen dissolved).  This will give the yeast plenty of what they need to ferment very, very quickly.  It's also best to use yeast that just finished up another fermentation, as opposed to yeast straight out of the package.

Optional: Ferment warm, at the upper end of what the yeast can tolerate (80 F should do).  This will help speed things up, but may kick up lots of fruity-smelling esters.  If you want a cleaner taste, go with a lower temperature.

Those tips should help make it go very quickly.  I've done barleywine fermentations (i.e. up to ~10% alcohol) in 3 days before.

  2. at least... 5 days

  3. lol alcoholic xD

  4. i'm pretty sure they make moonshine in a day or two. but i don't know. i was wrong. you made me look.

Collect the ingredients necessary for making moonshine. You will need 25 pounds of cornmeal, 100 pounds of sugar, 100 gallons of water and 6 ounces of yeast. You'll also need charcoal for the final filter stage.

    Step2

Gather the necessary equipment. You will need a few large pots, a large pressure cooker and a coiled copper pipe.

    Step3

Boil water on the stove until it reaches a rolling boil.

    Step4

Add this water to cornmeal. This mixture is known as the mash.

    Step5

Cool down the mash until it is warm to the touch.

    Step6

Add sugar and yeast to the warm mash.

    Step7

Set the mash aside and allow it to ferment for 4 to 5 days. The mash is ready when it stops bubbling. At this stage, the mash is known as sour mash or beer.

    Step8

Put the sour mash into the pressure cooker and carefully bring it up 173 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature at which the alcohol content of the mixture rises to the surface.

    Step9

Use a coiled copper pipe, passed through cold water, to trap vaporized alcohol in a separate vessel. As the vapors pass through the cold copper tubing, they condense into a liquid called moonshine.

    Step10

Filter the moonshine through charcoal to make it fit for consumption
