my mom is 77, I have moved her twice in the last 3 years, She is currently living in my rental. I spent almost 2 hours just trying to get into the front door, she apparently has been climbing over things to get in and out. The entire house is loaded, it is a health hazard and a fire hazard. Does anyone know if you can use th power of attorney to lock her bank accounts, I am listed on the accounts, I want to lock the accounts, and even possible take her car, I know this sounds extreme but she simply cannot live like this, I have tried going over daily and taking things out but I cannot stay ahead of her. So I quit, well its been over a year and like I said you cannot get into the house. does anyone have suggestions and how to manage this behavoir>?

  1. She needs to be evaluated for her state of mental health. that's the first place to start. If you can prove that she has poor mental health you may be able to get more legal rights over her bank accounts etc so you can keep her and her home safe for her. If she is bad enough she may need to be moved to a home of some sort where someone cares for her.also, check into your rights as a landlord. You are letting her live in a house that is your rental--you may have rights or responsbilities that you can exercise here.

  2. we can manage that but, your mum is already 77 and the technique should be done by a specialist and it is a long term treatment. talk to your councilor or psychiatrist. i'm sure that they will recomend you to take her in a certain organization.
