  1. yes

  2. a little bit of classic scary movie. "King Kong" did it for me. I woke up 20 times in the night after I saw that film. d**n my brother for convincing me to see it! Generally, give yourself an overdose in media - not all scary stuff, fantasy stuff, well written stuff. I read a beautifully written book "Doctor Who: The Sleep of Reason" by Martin Day. Well, it was a bit scary too... it was about a hound. I woke up in the night sobbing to my sister. It was embarrasing....

  3. If you have any real phobias, like heights or spiders for example - expose yourself to them more often. Maybe place pictures representing it under your pillow.

  5. Yes it is its called "Dream incubating" but in the same way you can make yourself have good dreams on lucid dreams.

  6. using dreams as an escape for reality is perfectly fine, however wanting to ignore your what your conscious thought is telling you in favor of nighmares is probably not the best for you. (and also very complicated to control dreams)

Quite commonly after losing someone its normal to dream that they are still there with you. It hurts when you wake up, but it also gives you time to reflect why the're gone. Break ups are tough, everyone goes through that at some time or another. Time eventually heals all...

If you are still interested in nightmares, try to flood your mind with thoughts that scare you (try watching scary movies before bed, anything zombie gives me nightmares for days...) then make sure not to think too much about your ex, when she is the last thing you think about before sleep its sure to etch itself in your dreams however trying not to think is better said than done. Stay away from nicotine as nicotine (esp. patches..) gives you very vivid dreams.
