Is it possible to master shaolin forms without going to China?

There are monks and schools in the west now, plus a lot of DVDs so is a pilgrimage to hunan or denfeng really neccessary, can you become adept at shaolin kung fu by remaining where you are?

Yes.

A number of genuine Shaolin Temple monks have defected to America and have set up their own temples so that you don't have to go to China to learn authentic Shaolin kung fu.

For example: Sifu s**+ Yan Ming defected and now has a 'genuine' Shaolin Temple in New York City.

Hey. I don't mean to be offensive, just informative, but

Shaolin was originally not intended to teach people outside of chinese culture, so I say not -- that you cannot master it. You can devote yourself to it however, and believe you are a master.

No, unless you apply yourself to the rigid doctine of the original Shoalin.  Which include rigourous training daiy, a diet of maybe a bowl of rice twice a day, and well you get the idea.

There are so many forms of Gung Fu and it has been corrupted so heavily by the modern wushu federations that want to incorporate acrobatics into the styles it's not worth mastering many of the forms of Shaolin Gung Fu. There are, however, a few very solid southern styles that if you find the right teacher, one who is willing to evolve the martial art for modern use and keep it's style and you're willing to invest the time and energy, I'm positive you can master a particular form of Shaolin Gung Fu outside China.

I recommend Hung Gar, possibly the most popular of the southern styles besides Wing Chun, very, very useful and practical if you find the right teacher, which can be very hard, may I remind you. I wouldn't take a class if it didn't feature a form of sparring, that's just me though.

No you cannot master the sholin techniques if you don't go to china. Maybe you may only learn thier styles but not all.

In learning sholin kung fu your desire to learn kung fu is the key to may the lesson easier. In sholin temple like gin-shu shaolin temple. They teach kung fu using stances that is the first, and then folowed by the arm they gonna put your arm an knife and you must cary a water jar and pour it on the pond.

and they will teach you ion head you gonna bump your head into a sand bag with force. And they gonna teach you how to fight use weapons and teaches you to be balance. And they will make your eye fast like a lightning. so that you may not be hit.

so it is not easy if you study in outside the saholin temple.

Because it is not enoughf stuff to train you. and plus in shaolin temple the buddah will gide you in practicing kung fu.
