I am moving to a new apt. in a building that was built with steel beams rather than wood. Is there a mounting kit made for steel beams rather than wood? I cannot find anything on the web...

  1. Yes, the TV can be mounted to steel beams.  You will have to get a bit creative though.

If the walls have vertical steel beams, you will need to buy a standard flat screen wall mount.  You will then need to attach a piece of 3/4 inch plywood to the steel beams using bolts.  The piece of plywood needs to be wide enough to span the distance between two of the vertical beams and tall enough to span the height of the mount.  The plywood should be attached securely to two of the beams using at least four bolts.  You would then attach the mount to the plywood using more bolts and nuts and washers.

If you luck out and the beams are spaced right you may be able to attach the mount directly to the beams.  That would be ideal.
