Question:

Is it possible to not be pregnant enough?

I had s*x on my "most fertile" days (as detected by an ovulation calendar). And now my period is about 2 weeks late. I took two urine tests after it was a week late and both were negative. I was pretty sure I wasn't and the my period would just come later, but now that it hasn't, I'm a bit confused. One of the tests was taken at my doctor's so I know it was properly done. Should I retest, or just wait until my next scheduled period?

  1. Did they do a blood test at the doctor`s office? That is the most effective, and will tell you right after you missed the period. The urine test at the doctor is just the same as you buy at the drug store. I would ask for a blood test.

  2. You could ask the doctor to do some blood work.  If the urine tests are comming back negative and you still arent having a period then some blood work wouldnt be without reason.

  3. retest it could be that you didnt have a high enough hcg hormone level for it to pick up x

  4. There's pregnant and there's not pregnant.  Pregnant enough is like say just a little bit pregnant.

A doctor's test should be pretty accurate, however, false negatives have been known to occur, especially early in the pregnancy.  Give it another 2 weeks and get tested again.

  5. No- you're either pregnant, or your not.

You might wait a little longer (maybe a week)for the pregnancy test. sometimes your early tests may give you a "false" negative.

  6. Have the doc do a blood test.  Could be that your hcg levels are just a little low and aren't being picked up by the urine test.  That happens to me when I'm pregnant.

    Best of luck!
