Is it possible to obtain the American Dream?

Fun caring loving warm Marriage and Family

3.5 kids

each in same private school

all kids graduate 3.5 or more GPA

all kids go off to college to become doctor or lawyer

after empty nest syndrome husband and wife live well past their 90's and during there life live in the same home they raised their kids in

kids visit parents home each november and december

kids call parents moderately (8 or 9 times per year) when they are away in the state they moved to because of their career.

kids marry excellent spouses

kids have kids

happily never after?

This is a DREAM - you can aspire to it, but with all the crietria you've listed (including the ridiculous house specs), you'll never achieve it. It just gives people something to shoot for, or, conversely, gives them things to complain about not having.

no because you cant have half a child:)... seriously though you could if you had a good enough job and you put your kids in a good enough school. I dont know about living into your 90's though thats more luck than anythin else.

I believe this is one warped version of the "american dreram"

The american dream isn't having everything you can imagine in your driveway and in possesions.

For most americans I think the dream is just having  a stable life, reasonable success in whatever their chosen endeavour is, and having  a healthy and happy family and friends.

Well, maybe the motorcycle.:)

It shouldn't be about how many cars or or boats or yachts or houses one has, It should be the amount of happiness one achieves along with the success and a wife and a beautiful family, I guess. Some people see the American dream a bit different and their version has nothing to do with cars or boats.
