  1. yes anything is possible with breeding. but you have to see that there are tons of pits that are not aggressive its really not the breeds nature its how there trained by the owner, and yes i guess someof its bad breeding but its more the owners fault

  2. aggression towards animals?? yea it is possible.... but that is the standard for a Pit Bull, if you change the standards then you are not breeding right...i hope your not trying to ask about aggression towards humans because a REAL Pit Bull is never aggressive towards humans.

    either way i have Pit Bulls, they are not aggressive towards anything, its the training.

    a well bred Pit Bull will be dog aggressive, its what they were bred for its their history no reason in denying it, but it would never bite a human.

    Ali you obviously dont know their history or the breed that well.. i can tell you this if i didnt socialize my dogs they would be very animal aggressive, its natural, but like i said training is the main thing if you bring it around enough dogs and train to get along with them they will learn that its not ok to go after dogs etc.

  3. What do you mean out breed the aggressive nature of the pit bull?? I own a pit bull and he is not aggressive at all. He is almost 3 years old and I have never had any problems with him.

  4. I think it all depends on how the dog is raised.

  5. pitbulls are NOT naturally aggressive. Its all in the way they are raised. if you keep up a good life style of socializing the dog and getting the dog used to being around other dogs and people especially children then the dog will be fine

    also. the main reason why the pitbull is a great fighting dog [[not that i agree with it...]] is because of their loyalty. they are so loyal to their owner to the point of risking their life fighting another dog just cause it makes their owners happy. I find it sickening when people take advantage of that and turn it into

    a bad thing.

  6. Firstly, it is not the pit bulls "nature" to be aggressive. Aggression is a behaviour - not a temperament.

    However, there are some sensible precautions that I feel should be undertaken when breeding any dog - to cover certain areas of both nature and nurture.

    The obvious thing is not breeding from aggressive dogs.

    If you have an adult dog that is aggressive by nature, it will pass these genes onto its offspring. But not only that - the pup will also learn behaviour from its mother. So if the female has "nurture" type issues such as aggression, food guarding etc - the pups may learn to do these same behaviours.

    I personally believe that only dogs of good health and temperament should be allowed to breed. For this reason, I think that all potential bereding dogs should be health and temperament tested (eg the American temperament test, or the UK Canine good citizens award scheme. Only dogs with a proven temperament should be allowed to reproduce.

    By doing this you could effectively eradicate any form of inherited aggression that may exist, and any aggression that could be learned from the dam.

  7. Aggressive has to do with people trying to train them to be aggressive and breeding the wrong sorts of dogs with the wrong sort of dogs! Although Pitbull are known for attacks, they are Not really aggressive breed as such, there actually a really non aggressive breed. People today generally breed dogs for looks today, rather then temperment, and for a pet, Temperment is way more important then looks, where as the show dog has to look a certain way, and breeder really forget about the temperment-They just want to make money!. I would love to see more breeders strive to achieve the right look with an excellent temperment and proper trainning does play apart in the dog nature! Any dog with the wrong trainning can be Aggressive, no matter the bloodlines!

    If you want a dog who...

        * Is medium to large, muscular and powerful

        * Looks imposing, so makes an effective deterrent, but is usually non-aggressive with people

        * Thrives on vigorous athletic activities

        * Has a sleek, easy-groom coat that comes in many colors

    An American Pit Bull Terrier may be right for you.

    If you don't want to deal with...

        * Legal liabilities (public perception, future breed bans, insurance problems, increased chance of lawsuits)

        * An extremely careful search to avoid all the nasty, neurotic Pit Bulls

        * Providing extra amounts of socialization and training to make sure your dog turns out well and counteracts the bad press

        * Aggression toward other animals

        * Rowdiness and exuberant jumping, especially when young

        * Destructiveness when bored

        * Strong-willed mind of his own, requiring a confident owner who can take charge

        * Shedding

    An American Pit Bull Terrier may not be right for you

  8. It all depends how the dog is raised.

    I have never met a pit aggressive towards anyone.I have met two aggressive towards other dogs.There are many breeds that can be dog aggressive though.

    People just don't take the time to train properly.
