Question:

Is it possible to overcook a beef chuck roast using a dutch oven on the stove?

Or is it like pulled pork, the more you cook it the more tender it gets.

  1. Keep it completely covered in ANY liquid (water, tomato or BBQ sauce, soup stock), and simmer on the stove.  You could simmer it for 10-12 hours and it would just get more tender......

  3. Yes,  You can overcook it.  If it falls apart, its overcooked.

    Pot roast should be tender, but it shouldn't fall apart when you slice it.  Eye appeal should be taken in to consideration when cooking food.

  4. As long as you have water in the pan, and the heat on low (so it doesn't dry out)....you can cook it for a very long time (think slow-cooker).  Oh, and don't forget to keep a lid on it!  :)
