i did a DIY project of painting my fog lights yellow. but i painted the outside of the plastic shell of the fog light. it worked perfectly.

so i was wondering if i could go buy new halogen bulbs for my civic and then paint the bulb yellow with the same paint i used on my fogs.

would it work? or do you think it would mess up the bulb?

  1. tinting your bulbs could cause them to exploded some of the tint that is use contain oils that heat up the bulb and cause the gas inside the bulb to expand and burst. you should just buy one that are already done. that or just tint your headlight cover, but there are legal issues that will follow if you do check with your local law enforcement agency.

  2. No, the bulbs are too hot and they will burn off the paint. Some halogen bulbs can even crack if you get a greasy fingerprint on them when you put them in. If you are going to tint them, use the tint on the lense.

  3. The Halogen bulb is way too hot to have any kind of coating adhere for long. It would just burn off. It worked for your lens cover because they don't get that hot.

  4. YELLOW HEADLIGHTS=TICKET

  5. It's illegal to paint any bulbs on your car. I got busted for painting clear signal bulbs yellow. They caught it at inspection. Besides, headlights get extremely hot. I don't think paint would hold up.
