Question:

Is it possible to pay with a check online?

I was ordering a Burt's Bees set online, and filled out all of my information. It said that it is possible to pay with a check, and I wasn't sure how this works. It asked for a check number, and I just entered a random number. The order went through, and it said I should receive my order in 72 hours. Will this be taken from my bank account? I didn't put in any information about my bank account, only my address, etc. Will the money for the order be removed from my account?

  1. Can you tell me what store you were trying to purchase from? I haven't found many online stores that accepts online checks. Thanks !

  2. you should be able to use check

  3. you just entered a random number? that's not good! it is going to take it from someone else's account, someone that you don't know... and they are probably going to be pretty ticked off.... call the company up immediately, explain that you didn't understand how to use the check and you made a mistake... explain that you want to pay for it using your own checking account, or just cancel the order and re-order it afterwards... yeah, you don't want that.... it's fraud... and DEFINITELY NOT GOOD. just get it taken care of.... the numbers they were looking for are on the bottom of the check.... your bank account number, routing number etc.... good luck...

  4. If you didn't put in any info about your account then there will not be anything sent to you. They have safeguards against it in place. There will most likely be a hold on your order, you might receive an email, might not, but your order will not be delivered to you.

Their site is secure, and they will run whatever info you gave them and if they do not get paid they do not ship.

Orders automatically go through, but when there is missing info, and the money doesn't transfer, then you don't receive product. Check back on the site and you will see that it has not been shipped.

Checks online are like debits. They use a random check number anyway, but you have to have your routing number and account number on there for it to be taken out of your account.

  5. sometimes thay will and wont

  6. I have not done this in some time but many years ago when places took checks online it required you to mail the check to them.

I would email the company and ask.

  7. You pretty much answered your own question. However though, I've been doing on-line banking for awhile now and cut my stamp expense down to nothing by EFT my bills on-line.
