  1. no, hd-dvds only play on a hd-dvd player which costs $200-300. hd-dvd players are not manafactured anymore cuz the hd movie market has been taken over by the blu ray format.


  2. It should be - but check that both machines can handle the type of disk, i.e. RW, R + / -
