My dad is 6' tall. My mom is 5' tall. I'm In the middle at 5'7"

Now I have a friend who's dad is 5'5" and his mom is 5' but my friend is 5'10"

I'm guessing that there is no way to predict whether or not your kids will be tall but lets say if I married a girl who was 5'9", would my odds go up could I still produce tall boys if I married a girl who was 5'4"?

I'm currently seeing a girl who is 5'4" but I have my eye on this blonde who is 5'9"

Being shorter sucks so It's my mission to produce taller boys but I don't know if it's in my control or out of my control.

I'm not shallow, I'm just looking out for my future kids.

  1. Marry who you want and get a really tall friend to knock her up when the time comes.

  2. Here's a link to a guesstimation calculator to determine that:

Btw, my father was rather short but was an amazing person and magnificent father. No matter what happens in life you can not truly predict what your children are going to look like nor their stature or really even their health. When the time comes for you to settle down (which obviously is not now since you show a great deal of immaturity by remaining in a relationship with someone whom you don't see a future with while pursuing other options) you will have to accept your children's assets and accept their faults.

  3. Typically before a child is 2 years old it's hard to estimate adult height.  Usually you average the adult height of the parents, which you exceeded by 1" but you were within a nice range from the average.  But there are a lot of variables in growth like if there is a genetic mutation leading to Marfan's (which also is associated with aortic dissection - their hearts sometimes explode due to the cartilage disorder), and nutrition is critical.  You're friend might have a new mutation that led to him having Marfan's syndrome, a common occurrence, or his parents might not have had good nutrition when they were little which lead to them being stunted.

And little man, marry for love not for height!  Yeah, okay, you're just average - but as a tall woman (6') I was not interested in men who did not love me for who I am but what I could produce.  That would make for a poor marriage and a poor parenthood.  If you want your children to be tall, fed them highly nutritious food when they are young and stay away from processed, high fat, high sugar foods.

  4. Genetics are a bit more complicated than that. How tall the woman and man are may have a small bearing but it isnt going to necissarily be accurate. The height of siblings, parents, and other family has to be taken into account as well. Prior injuries may make a person shorter than they would be without. Predicting height isnt easy. Obviously if you were both over 6 feet tall you would probably have tall children. But that isnt the case.

  5. NO!
