  1. That is it. Power everything up.

  2. If the printer is connected to the network along with the laptop yes, you will be able to do that.

  3. Yes.  Sounds like you have it covered.

  4. There are 2 ways to do it, one expensive and one very cheap.

First, the expensive one.  Look on the Internet (or a computer store) for a wireless printer router.  This will hook up to your printer and wireless router and then you can print from anywhere as long as the printer is on.  Cost: about $40-50.

Second, the cheaper way.  You have to set up a workgroup on both computers.  Go to the Control Panel and you will see a workgroup wizard.  Run this on both the desktop and the laptop and be sure to have exactly the same name for the workgroup on both, and be sure to turn on 'share files and printers.'  When you're done, go to the laptop and go to Start -- Printers and hit Add New Printer.  (Both computers have to be on at this time.)  When asked 'local or network' click network printer.  Hit browse and you will see the other computer in the list.  Hit the + sign next to it and select the printer.  When you finish, choose to make this the default printer.

From then on, when you want to print, have both computers on, hit print, and the signal will go from the laptop to the print spooler on the desktop and then print on the printer.

    Good Luck.
