Is it possible to put a 9.9 hp carb on a 9.5 hp(Johnson)?

Question

I see some people are putting 15hp carbs on 9.9hp's. Is it possible to put a 9.9hp on a 9.5hp?? Thanks in advance!!

If all the linkage bolt patterns are the same try it if not than it won't work>

No the carbs are different.  The throttle cam, linkage and size are for post 1974 engines. The 9.9 and 15 share most components like block, pistons, and ign .. The 15 had a different head and carb.  The throttle cams were changed during the 1974 model year and early models retrofitted.  The 9.5 was an earlier design that had a different block, pistons, carb, ign etc.  I hope this helps.
