I am wondering this because i plan on buying a 65' mustang but it has no air conditioning. I'm still going to buy the car but it would be a big perk if i could have air conditioning also.

-thanks for all the help in advance

  1. Not many of those cars came with air in them , but when you saw one with air it had a aftermarket unit in it , that's one that was mounted under the dash board. I,m not sure of the price but my cousin has a 67 that he had air put into it.

  2. Bf owns a mustang. 66' to be exact.

He says you CAN put an AC system in them, it will run about $900 - $1000.

    GOOD LUCK!

  3. for a price any thing is possible.

i'm sure the price would be prohibitive though.

    good luck to ya.

  4. There's a company called Vintage Air that makes retrofit a/c systems for classic cars, including the '65 Mustang. They have systems to look like they are factory installed as well as under dash units.

The web-site is www.vintageair.com. They also have an on-line catalog.

    Hope this helps you.

  5. It was a dealer option that was hung under the dash and you could put a original system on it, but your better off to get one of the aftermarket systems..

  6. Yeah I wouldn't think it would be that hard either. Just raise the idle, mount the compressor on a custom bracket, get a longer accessory belt, route all the refrigerant lines, etc.

Wouldn't be cheap and it definitely wouldn't be easy (in fact I'd probably rather swap an engine than install AC in a car that wasn't made with it.
