  1. Be yourself, think for yourself and read about

    Socrates.

It's possible, I did it and am still doing it

    hard work though.

  2. first there is no socially constructed self, but socially constructed selves for each one of us. you are not the same you now, or ten yrs ago, or 20. you are not the same you at home, work, internet. second, so there isn't you or me or us or others. descartes' cojeto is a hoax, there is no i think then i exist, you don't think, the society thinks through you with its symbols and language. you think that you think, but it's hafez, Tagore, and Kierkegaard who think through you. you are just the combination, you are nothingness, but when you think there is "me" pain starts from this illusion.

just relax and enjoy the scene, be a part of the one, not the crowds, but first you need to kill me, and "me", kill atman, kill buddha

  3. i don't think it's possible to "erase" our socially constructed self because our society, its cultures, beliefs, etc is what defines us, the people of the society/community itself. it's not possible to completely "erase" our who we are in society but it IS POSSIBLE TO CHANGE.

  4. sure.all you have to do is be subject to a violent act.this changes more than you may think

  5. hypnosis.but its better to meditate on the change.

we need a paradigm shift socially.

  6. Once you’re born, and as time passes, your personality starts to build and your manners begins to clear up to be life principles. Whether you’re taught those manners by parents, or you’ve earned it by life experience, they affect your life style.

Either ways, and regardless to how efficient and well built you personality is, you start acting and reacting according to how you’ve been used to since your childhood.

‘Erase’ is impossible when it comes to socially constructed personalities. Memories and experiences affect your reactions, even if you somehow can’t see it. Nevertheless, ‘changing’ the socially constructed self is possible.

That change might be attained by changing life principles and point of views. Hard, yes. You might have spent years building your current personality that it appears, as time passes, as a reflection to your social and practical life.

And so, you can’t erase your socially constructed self. Simply because, just like your life have affected your actions, it has affected your past and the people you communicated with during your old social life. And so it’s impossible to erase the past and people’s thoughts.

So, I think changing your old social self is partially possible.

  7. The ability to transcend the bodily/societal/cultural/human perception of who we all are is available to us (both individually and collectively) at all times. Meditation. Mindful living. Both offer the opportunity for what you are seeking.

  8. Not without changing everything about the self.

  9. That's what the 20's are for.  Once children leave the home, they begin exploring the world where they question (or erase) everything their parents said and did and discover their own values and morals, basically reconstructing themselves into what they want to be instead of someone else's perfect idea of who they should be.
