Looking to purchase an eight foot (44"x88" playing surface) pool table to put in the dining room/living room area of a 2 bedroom condo...but it looks like the area is a bit narrow...has anyone had any experience with 8' pool tables in similarly-narrow rooms?

  2. I have to agree with the previous answers.  You're going to be quite cramped with an 8-footer.  If you really want a table, you might want to consider an inexpensive 7-footer until you have the space for a bigger table.  It's better than no table in my opinion.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

  3. umm..i would say no. just because you need about at least 3 foot on each side of the table for your stick to be able to move freely and not bump into anything...it would prolly fit long ways i just think the width is cutting it really close...

  4. Oh, that'll be no problem...You're playing with one of those conductor's batons like Kramer and Mr. Costanza, right?  Sorry, better wait for a bigger place.

  5. I have a pool table in a similar room and it is actually a little bit bigger than what you describe.  I wouldn't do it.  We barely use the table because of the close proximity of the walls.  Just wait till you get a bigger place.

  6. I'm sure you could re-assemble the 8' table within the room.

But with the 44" width of the table, you'd end up with just a hair under 2 1/2 feet on either side (long side) of the table - that's not enough to line up a decent shot.  If you centered the table within the 20' allowance of the room, you'd get a 6' clearance on either end.

If you're super serious about the need to have this table in your condo, I would suggest looking at knocking out a wall (if it's not a load-bearing wall, and you OWN the condo) to increase the side clearance around the table.

This, though, seems a bit unreasonable - save your money, or find a friend with a huge garage who already has a table.

Putting this table in your condo is a losing proposition.

    Sorry.

  7. Probably not.  Once the table is in, it will leave about  30 inches or less on the sides to play.  Possible but probably very uncomfortable.  You need at least 5 feet of free space on all four sides to have a comfortable place to play, preferably more.
